Mike,
I signed the guest book online, but I also wanted to personally thank you for a wonderful day with my family! We truly enjoyed a carefree day of baseball. It allowed us to escape the worries of daily life. It was incredible to sit so close to the action and see the players faces as they returned back to the dugout. It was some thing and none of us had ever experienced before. Being the mother of two children with chronic illness, I can only imagine a glimpse of what you have gone through. I admire the strength and dedication you have, in honoring your son and his legacy! It truly is inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing Steve’s dream with us and for giving us a day, we will not forget!
Thanks again!

Dear Mike and the entire Steve’s Dream Team,
I sit here trying to come up with the words to express just how much our experience on Sunday meant to us. One thing is for certain, there is no way I will make it through this without shedding a tear or two all over again.
When we were offered tickets through HopeKids I had no idea how much more than a game this would be. My son happened to be the 2000 ticket on the day we were able to come, in attendance with us was my father and my name is Stevie. It was special to say the least. Meeting Mike and hearing his story touched us in a way I can’t explain. We loved getting to meet Steve’s Dream Team and taking pictures with everyone, it means so much of us to be able to know the people behind such a kind act. Mike’s kind words about how he was certain everything would work out for us and our son made my day.
After meeting Mike and the team we got to go in and explore the stadium and watch the game. It was so fun being so close to the action and hearing the crack of the bat! My kids loved seeing a game so up close and personal, it was a whole new experience for them and such a special time for our family. These moments and memories mean everything to us because as Mike said, you never know what will happen and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
Thank you all so much for the magical memories. Thank you especially to Mike for sharing his heart and for keeping the memory of his son alive in such a special way. Your team is forever in our hearts.
Love, The Copes

Mike, We wanted to say Thank You so much for an incredible afternoon at the ball park! It was so nice to meet you and to see what kind of an impact you and Steve's Dream are having on so many lives! The seats were amazing! This was Le Le's first time at a real ball game and she absolutely loved it. Every time one of the players would finish at bat she would raise her hand and say my turn my turn! She wanted so badly to go take her turn at bat! It was so fun to see her get autographs from some of the players and to top it all off we were surprised when lead singer for Pearl Jam Eddie Vedder (my favorite band / singer) showed up by the dug out and was talking with the players. He even signed a ball for us!! Truly an experience neither one of us will forget! Brian and Le Le Bolander

Mike, It was an absolute pleasure meeting you. Being a single mom to 6 amazing boys (3of then having medical issues) I don’t have money to treat my kids to a game like this. This was the first game any of my boy have ever been to. They had a blast!! My twins both have cerebral palsy, developmental delays, one twins is legal blind and my other son has heart complications. With all of that and just day to day things getting out and enjoying family time at the CUBS game was what we needed. I can’t thank you enough for this opportunity. You have the biggest heart and a blessing to my boys and I . God Bless You ❤️

Today we visited Sloan Park to catch Chicago Cubs spring training batting practice. We were approached by a man, Mike, who asked to share his story with us. He shared that he founded a nonprofit organization, Steve's Dream, in memory of his son, who passed away in 2002 at the age of 24. Since that time, Steve's Dream has donated nearly 2,000 Cubs Spring Training tickets to fathers and sons, and Mike said he wanted to donate the tickets to our family today. His only caveat was that we have fun and make memories as a family. He then fed us lunch, gave us balls for kids to have autographed and gifted our family with seats (in the shade!) where we all enjoyed getting to see the players close-up and even snagged a few game balls. He reminded us that we can grow from our losses and be a blessing to others. Thank you, Mike, for making such a difference to so many families through Steve's Dream!

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Mike and Steve’s Dream for the amazing seats to watch our first ever Spring Training Game on March 2nd 2019. Our twin boys had the best time cheering for the Cubs, getting autographs, snacking and visiting the Team shop for some memorabilia. Your generosity to enable other children to share in the experiences you had with your son is heartwarming. Thank you.

Mike - Thank you so much for giving our family an amazing day watching the Cubs spring training game at Sloan Park. Our daughter Kennedy has a condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and has been through 2 open heart surgeries (she's only 3 years old). The afternoon started out great by Mike introducing us to Hall of Fame 2nd Baseman Ryne Sandberg who met Kennedy and signed a baseball for her. The seats to the game were amazing, we got to say hello to managers and players as they entered the dugout. At the end of the game, the equipment manager threw us game used baseballs for both kids. What an amazing day! She had such a great time watching baseball and experiencing the Cubbies atmosphere. Thank you Mike and Steve's Dream for giving our family memories we will never forget! This is such a great way to honor your son!
Thanks!

Thank you Mike for the tickets to the Cubs game yesterday! The timing of this event was perfect as Lila is on a 10 day break and then will be heading into a tough round of treatment. The memories made yesterday will be cherished by us !
Thank you for all you do to give kids a chance to be kids ❤️

Thank you so very much for the Cubs tickets. I can't find the words to express my gratitude for the opportunity you had provided Eliron. My biggest struggle in dealing with Eliron's medical situation, is to keep him a kid- a chance to be like everyone else and ignore the fact that he has a disability. Going to the Cubs game gave him that time and gave me a time to teach him about a game we both enjoy.
Thank you for sharing Steve's love for baseball and your family tradition with us. If at any time in the future you would like assistance with searching, obtaining and writing grants to help further Steve's Dreams, please keep me in mind.
I apologize about the lateness of the email. We had to leave the Cubs game early and Eliron was admitted to the hospital due to fevers and I have been in crazy mode since we returned home. Thank you again for the amazing day!!!
Best,
Jessica

Thank you Mike and Steve's Dream for my son's (12 & 14 yrs old) very first Spring Training Game! They had a wonderful time and the baseballs that you gave them were perfect for autographs! They ate hot dogs, kettle corn, nachos, and sodas, enjoying every bite while intensely rooting for the Cubs with each batter. Their older sister is developmentally disabled and requires 24/7 care, so we don't get to go to baseball games like this. Thank you for working with HopeKids which made this a great day for us. We said a prayer of thanksgiving for the positive experience that you gave to my boys and me. God bless you!
With much appreciation for all that you do for kids and families,
Mark

To all involved in our memorable day,
To say "thank you" doesn't begin to express the gratitude we have for making possible the AMAZING day we had yesterday, Sunday, March 18th at the Cubs game.
Mike told us about his journey that brought him to establish this wonderful charity. We feel so fortunate to have been able to feel the joy and happiness that Mike clearly experienced with Steve attending Cubs games. Zach enjoyed every second of the game, cheering on the Cubs, especially Kyle Schwarber. It was such a memorable day that we will never forget.
Thank you again to Steve's Dream and Campbell's Crew Cares who nominated Zach.

To the incredible family who continue honoring Steve's legacy... Thank you.
This past Friday, you gifted my family and me an experience we will never forget. You know those moments in your life when you stop and feel so much joy that you actually pause to reflect, soak up and cherish the experience? This past Friday you gave my husband, our children and me that gift.
As you know our family grew from unique circumstances, our desire to become parents didn't come easy with years of wanting to hear "mom" or "dad" yelled by our children, only to feel heartbroken. I remember one conversation my husband and I had over dinner when we had learned yet another fertility treatment had failed. He said, "I always dreamed of getting to take my son to a Cub's baseball games, like my dad did with me. Maybe I won't get to do that." The Cubs were the team my husband and his family cheered on growing up and the memories/bonding they had over the games were something very special to my husband. It was a gift he longed to create with his son. As broken as my heart felt with the news we had just been given, hearing the sadness in my husband's voice about his broken dream, hurt even more.
When our faith led us to adoption, little did we know but there were two little boys out there searching for love, for protection and the care from a family. Our two boys spent their first years with a very difficult beginning (caring for each other at the ages of 1 and 3 because no one else was there for them) before being rescued by the foster care system. The day we learned they were the answers to our prayers, was one of the happiest days of our lives, because I knew many happy moments were ahead of us including many a baseball games. Baseball has been something that has brought our family together. Our boys have played ball since the ages of 4 and to this day the love of the game brings us to ball parks around this city. And in the 8 years we've been a family, baseball has been a heartstring that ties us together. Yet of all the little league games and the few Diamondbacks games we've been able to go to, never once have we experienced the fun that the Cub's game brings.
Until this past Friday. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot, and walked to your tent, the feeling was contagious. A fellow Cub's fan once told me, "there's something special about being a Cub's fan, you can't describe it, you simply feel it." Finally, I knew what she meant. Everything from the food you shared, to the conversation about your son... all of it was truly appreciated and such a gift. Hearing you talk about your son and the love you share, even though you are separated by this world and Heaven, reminded me that no matter what, love never dies.
As I walked into the stadium with our four children, found our seats and sat down to take it all in, I was overwhelmed with joy. It's a joy I didn't know I would ever feel again, for I like you, live with part of my heart in Heaven too. As you know, we lost our son in June 2015, (the miracle biological surprise we were told we'd never have), and we grieve the moments we never got to share with him. How fun it would have been to have him in tow with us, but it wasn't supposed to be. So instead I carry him with me in my heart. Its seems like you with Steven's legacy, our son Noah's purpose I believe was to remind us of just how fleeting and precious our time is here, and that makes me mindful of just what a gift moments of pure joy are.
So that is why as I sat at the game and watched my children's eyes light up, each from different things... (getting to be SO close to the players, to getting a signed ball, to watching the mascot and eating peanuts)- all of it. All of us brought us so much joy and will be a day we always cherish as one of those great family moments we enjoyed together. All thanks to you, to the miracle that happened when you knew how to find a way to make Steven's life, his legacy, his purpose continue to live on.
Thank you for sharing this gift with us. We will always remember this special day!
Angie, Jarrett, Gabriel, Michael, Isabelle and Madelyn
PS: I have to tell you my daughter Isabelle was deeply touched by the Steve's story. As you'll see in one of the pictures, she took one of your brochures and read it (she's still learning to read) several times that day and over the weekend. On Friday night when I tucked her into bed and said our prayers she prayed for him... "Thank you God for Steven and his nice family that let us go to the baseball game." It made me smile to think that even as young at a 6 year old girl are grateful for the gift that is your boy. Your Son has made a big impact in this life and through your charity he continues to do so. Thank you.

Just a quick note to give you our sincerest thanks for the Cubs tickets on Saturday. The entire experience was both new and exciting for Tosh, who LOVED getting his ball signed and also destroyed a pile of chicken and fries during the game. He took his ball to school on Monday to show his teachers and friends - which means it was a big deal for him. A phenomenal experience for all of us and we couldn’t be more grateful to you for your generosity.
Much love from our family to yours.

Thank you Mike and Steve’s Dream! My grandson, Jake was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in December. Since then, life has been turned upside down and filled with Dr appointments, hospital stays, scans, mri’s and the list goes on and on. It has been very difficult to maintain normalcy within the rest of the family with Jake requiring so much time and attention and understandably so. Families are pulled in many directions in these situations. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to put this disease on the back burner for just one afternoon to attend a Cub Spring Training game compliments of Steve’s Dream. Unfortunately my grandson Jake was not able to attend due to a last minute trip to the Dr. with his parents but I (Grandma) was able to share this experience with Jake’s two sisters one of which is going to be the donor for Jake’s bone marrow transplant. It was such a relief to see them smiling and for just a couple of hours, not worrying about their brother. I’m sure Steve was watching over Jake to make sure his Dr. appointment went well so his sisters could smile again watching his Cubbies! Thank you again Steve’s Dream Team and thank you Mike.

We wanted to thank you for the opportunity to attend one of the Cubs Spring training games! We had so much fun and the seats were amazing! We actually met Anthony Rizzo and a few of the other players last year in the hospital when our daughter had just been diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, so it was even more special to be able to come to a game one year later with our daughter being cancer free! Thank you so much!
Much love,

I wanted to send you a quick note to tell you thank you so very much for the tickets to the baseball game. Our family had a great time. And we so appreciate that!

Thank you so much for donating Cubs Tickets to HopeKids. I was really excited when I heard I was getting these tickets. I moved to AZ over 15 years ago and never have been to a Cubs Spring Training game. I think it is awesome why you donate these tickets. Our family really enjoyed the game and being up so close to watch it was totally awesome. It would have been much better if they won.
Thanks again, by the way I saw the story that was being done while we were there, it was pretty awesome. You guys are great!

Dear Steve's Dream Team,
When Miracle League of Arizona approached us about tickets to a Cubs game, I had no idea how magical it would be. While we were sitting waiting for the game, I read the history of Steve's dream and it brought me to tears. Tristan had to have open heart surgery when he was three combined with a myriad of other diagnosis -- we have never been given the assurance he would be with us for long. Through MLAZ he has developed a love for baseball. At the game, I got to enjoy it his love of baseball WITH HIM from the stands. He may not have fully grasped the concept but he was doing his best to broadcast every 'strike' and 'out' and 'safe' he could. He enjoyed sitting on mine or his aunts lap and watching the game. He got a game ball from Rizzo that he later traded for a game ball from Mike :) I said I love you to my son so many times and was reminded of how precious every moment is. All three of us had a an amazing time! Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for giving us the chance to take Lucas to the Cubs game yesterday. I just signed the guest book, and can’t think of a better way to honor Steve’s memory. Lucas, who is now 10 years old, is one of 440 people in the world with a rare syndrome called 18 P Deletion. When he was diagnosed at 4 months of age, we were told “he’ll never walk or talk, and he’ll die young.” He walks, he talks (sometimes too much!), and he’s doing well in a 4th grade classroom. He has survived open heart surgery at the age of 3 months, neurosurgery at the age of 2 months, and 10 other lesser surgeries. He’s an amazing kid and the love of my life. I am so glad you could meet him, and my wife Nora and I want to sincerely thank you for your generosity.
Steve’s memory is obviously a blessing for many, including us.
Thank you!
Best regards,

There aren't enough words to thank Mike and the "Steve's Dream" team for all they do, and especially for the joy that we saw on the face of a dear 8 year old who is like a granddaughter to us. Her 15 year old big brother was killed in a tragic accident/incident in December, and the loss has been devastating. When we met Mike and Debbie, we bonded over stories of growing up in Chicago (my husband being from the southside) and being long-time Cubs' fans. Mike told us about his son Steve and the living memorial of donating Cubs' spring training game tickets. Little did we know that when we shared the story of our recent family loss that Mike had a plan. He contacted us a few days later and offered us tickets to take our son, his girlfriend, and her little girl to the Cubs' Opening Day game at the new park. The gift was incredibly generous, made even more so by the location of the "Steve's Dream" seats, just rows behind the Cubs' dugout.

Mike,
I just wanted to take a minute and say thanks for allowing us to experience the inaugural game in the Cub’s spring training stadium. We had a absolute fabulous time. What an amazing atmosphere. I now look back on the experience and realize that I was supposed to be there that day. There are too many things that happened that day for them to be counted as coincidence. First, we just stopped by to see the new park, we were not planning on being there that day. Second we ended up parking right next to you. We really did get swept up in the Cubs day. Thanks for not only giving us the tickets but scoring us another ticket so all 5 of my family could get in the game. A friend of mine is a huge Cubs fan and when he found out that I was going to spring training his only request was for me to get Javier Baez’s signature on a foul ball. Well because of your kindness and help I was able to get that done for him. When I gave him the signed ball he was shocked. He could not believe that I had pulled it off. His reaction was priceless. I still smile as I think about his reaction. It was awesome! Another thing that happened at the game that still amazes me is I ran into a friend that I played basketball against 25 years ago in high school in Utah. He actually came and stood in line behind me and my youngest son as we waited for our treats. When he had walked up I told my son, “I think that I know him.” As we started to visit he asked where we were from and I told him central Utah. I am from a very small town (400 population) so I usually don’t give the specifics because people usually don’t know where it is. I asked him how familiar he was with Utah he said that he had grown up there. I just turned to him and told him my name and again the surprise on his face was priceless. He said I know you! It was crazy for this to happen in a crowd of 15,000 people! Coincidence? I don’t think so! Again thank you for an amazing day. Our lives were brightened because of you and your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity! May God bless you for being who you are!

My family and I have received your donated tickets through a mutual friend, with whom we were able share this incredible day. Because of your incredible generosity, my girls got to experience seeing a ball game in person. The memories that we had created today, will live in our children’s hearts for ever. My family and I have been through so much in the past few months but because of the incredible support that we have received from friends, family and even complete strangers, we were able to get through it all. Thank you so much! I know that your son Steve is looking down at you from Heaven feeling incredibly proud of his parents and sister for the way they are keeping his memory alive.
God Bless you always,

Thank you so much for the very special day today! It was simply amazing!
We received your donated tickets through the Ryan House yesterday and are deeply honored to be a part of Steve's Dream. Ironically, Steve and I are very close in age...my birthdate 4/2/79. The memories that you created through your ticket donation will always remind me about your son and his story. You see, we have never been to a Spring Training game (as a family) and I know our boys are going to remember today for the rest of their lives. The are so appreciative of the foul balls that you gave them. We were able to have Fergie Jenkins sign them and immediately put them in special cases to help remember this special day. They were so proud of the real baseballs and talked about how they got them on the ride home.
I am not sure if you know our story, but our youngest son has a life threatening condition. You can learn more about him and our family at www.prayingforandrew.org.
Again, thank you so much for the wonderful time and memories! What an unexpected blessing this weekend!

My name is Marilyn and I am a cancer patient at the Mayo Clinic. You gave my family the first outing we have had since we learned about the challenge we were about to begin one year ago. My 23 year old daughter is severely mentally handicapped and my 24 year old son has had to become the caregiver for both of us. One of his joys in life is baseball and for that day I saw his energy change and the worry wash away while the three of us simply saw a baseball game. My daughter clapped and laughed, ate hotdogs and drank diet Pepsi like a seasoned pro. We felt whole and like a trinity reconnecting with joy. How can I tell you the gift you gave us was so much more than tickets.
Bless you, thank you for such a glorious day.

I think it's great on what you are doing. I have three children a five year old, a four year old and a two year old. My two year old is terminal and has been since birth they don't think she'll make it to age five. She had just been in the hospital for two weeks and before we left they gave me the baseball tickets. I could not take my youngest do to her condition but i was able to take my other two children and they loved it. It's hard to spread out my time and be able to afford thing to do with my children and if it wasn't for Steve’s Dream my two kids and I would not have gone to a baseball game for the first time and my four year old son would not have caught a ball it will be a day we will always remember thank you so much.

Dear Steve and Family- There are few words that describe the sheer joy of sharing a day at the ball park with your son, but there are fewer still when your son is your hero. I am sure your family knows a thing or two about this! You see our five year old son Max is a true miracle child – much to the credit of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Max’s life has been less than the “idyllic childhood” we all dream of for our children as he was born with two congenital defects, one of his heart and the other of the intestines. To date Max has undergone more than 24 surgeries and procedures and faces another open-heart surgery this summer. But Max is much, much more then all of this. He is without a doubt the happiest, most upbeat child I have ever met. He is also one of the biggest baseball fans I have ever met – something he has learned from me! Four weeks before we received a call from PCH asking us if we would like some Cub’s tickets, Max, as if sensing that Spring was in the air, started peppering me with questions: “Mommy when does baseball season start, huh?” “Will you get us tickets, please, please, please?” and “Mommy can we watch baseball on TV every night?” So image his glee when I told him that a very kind family, with a baseball loving son, just like him had given us tickets to a Spring training game. The new question became, “Is today baseball day? Is it?” When the day arrived and we went to the game we thought Max would explode if his smile were any bigger! He entertained everyone around us telling them how that day was the best one of his life. His smile and “great memories” as he called them only grew when the gentleman in front of us caught a ball and gave it to Max! He had the ball signed after the game and has slept with it since. In short, thank you so much for what you do. It is a wonderful, generous way to keep your son’s memory alive. I know we will never forget the bliss of the day we spent at the park, sun shining, Max smiling and the great game of baseball. What else is there in life? Thank you -
Patricia

My daughter Alyson is a huge baseball fan. She has been planning on trying out for her high school JV team since September, 2007. During try-outs, she was admitted into the Phoenix Children's hospital. She has Cystic Fibrosis. She has been in the hospital for approx. 3weeks now and missed her opportunity to try-out for the team. She became extremely depressed. Lisa, a Child Life Specialist, came in and gave Alyson 4 tickets to the Cubs-A's game on March 11. The sparkle that she has always has, returned, and she smiled from ear to ear. Thank you so very much for putting a smile on my daughter's face. Your son would be so very proud of you for sharing his love of baseball. Alyson can't wait to go to the game!

Via Phoenix Children's Hospital, Steve's Dream, has made it possible for me to take my grandsons to see the Cubs. I admire the manner in which you have taken a tragedy and turned into such fulfilling venue. As I will someday have to face the realities of what life has in store for a family member of my own, I pray that I too can find a way to honor my angel on earth. Baseball is providing a strong and lasting bond between me and the grandsons. With the awesome seats you provide the kids are able to yell out to the player and have them acknowledge back. The joy they receive and the impression that it makes will certainly last them a lifetime. I and the kid’s thank you for the opportunity you, your wife, and your son are providing for others. Steve's Dream is certainly a dream come true.

First of all, thank you for the tickets to today’s (Sun. March 2) Cubbies, Royals game. Christian and I (Jesus) had a special day. In trying to support a family, sometimes one forgets to stop and soak in the special moments in life. After hearing of your loss, today seemed to go in slow motion for me. I don't think I've stopped and looked at Christians face and smile so many times in a long time. Just being so close to the field and players was special for him, not to mention getting a baseball during the game. His only complaint was that we left before the game was over....FIRST TIME EVER!! He usually wants to leave after his first hot dog. As we were leaving the park he said to me, "Thanks for taking me to the game Dad" and for that, I say thank you Steve!
If there is anything me or my family can do to help your cause, we would love to help. We would love for another father/son pair to enjoy a day like this.
Best regards,
Jesus

Dear Mike & Jan
We can't thank you enough for the awesome day at the Cubs/Angels game this past week 3/19/03. Steve's Dream provided a single mother and her two boys an afternoon that consisted of GREAT seats, lots of loud fun and excitement, plenty of junk food, beautiful weather and it even included a couple of game balls and a Cubs cap signed by Sammy Sosa. What more could 10 & 11 year old boys ask for on a day during their Spring Break from school. You are special parents. You set an example for us all by continuing to listen to your son and accept his guidance in this endeavor to keep his dreams alive through others who are still here. I admire you and support you in this effort. Thank you for helping me to remember to slow down from the daily grind and really listen to my children and appreciate them for who they are and what they love. Thanks again. You have all of our support and love.

Dear Sara,
The website was pretty touching and inspirational. That was such a great idea to start up a charity in the name of your late brother. This website was so great as it provided vivid proof of the good graces of God. I think the part that hit home with me was when your brother's dream was stated "Steve had a dream to walk his own son into Wrigley Field someday", this dream of your brothers would be something I would like to do someday as well. I can't think of any better idea other than your family's charity, one of God's missions is for his followers to bring forth their treasure, talents and knowledge into the hands of charity in some form or another. This charity is such a great example of God communication to your family through your brother, this gives awesome inspiration as we know your brother lays in the peace of heaven.

Dear Mike and Jan,
I am one of the fortunate father/son recipients of Steve's Dream. I was touched beyond words by your commitment to your son's memory and passion. This past Wed. March 26th 2003, was my seven year olds first Cub Home Spring Training Game and our first of many father-son spring training adventures. We had the time of our lives, and were extremely grateful for your sharing not only your tickets but more importantly the quest for the strengthening of all father-son relationships. Everyone was so happy on this bright beautiful day and my son got three foul balls during the game. Needless to say, he had a smile ear to ear and still speaks of this day. However, after our three day trip had ended and we were back on the road (we had a 5 1/2 hr. drive) my son turned to me and said, "Dad, do you know what my favorite part of the trip was? Believing he would say how many balls he got or the bat he received from the player he astounded me by saying, "it was spending the time with you". Even as I write this I have tears in my eyes and will always remember our first spring training together. Thank you for making this time more special.

Jan and Mike,
As I sat at the computer and read some of the other letters, tears welled up in my eyes and I thought about all your family has gone through in the past few years. Would I have the courage and strength that you have displayed if I was to lose one of my boys at such a young age? I don't know. The Lord has truly blessed both of you with an unwavering faith, a strong family, and a wonderful means to honor your son, Steve. How comforting it must be to still feel Steve's presence at the ballpark every game, every time you look over at the seats and see a family "sharing the dream".
We cannot begin to thank you enough for your generosity in sharing these special tickets with us. We have been to Cubs games at Wrigley Field and went to a Spring Training game last year. None of those experiences even came close to what we felt at this game. We enjoyed being able to share our day together. We witnessed the kindness of strangers when the young man two rows in front of us caught a fly ball and unselfishly gave it to the little boy in front of us, his excitement obvious. My own two boys, Ryan and Alex (whose middle name is Steven), had a wonderful time just being brothers, making memories, and enjoying each other’s company.
Going to one of "Steve's Dream" games also was a wonderful life lesson for my boys. We talked about acts of kindness, courage, strength and faith...... reminders of how short life can be and how we need to love those around us.
So you see....."Steve's Dream" is not just about sharing a love of baseball......it touches people's lives in a very profound way.
Ryan, Alex, and myself would like to help you continue "Steve's Dream". Please let us know where we can make a contribution.
I'm sure that Steve is looking down from Heaven, proud of what you have accomplished and enjoying every minute that his "dream" lives on.

Dear Mike and Jan,
I can only imagine the pain and grief if one of my children died before I did. What would I do if that happened to me? How would I handle it? Would I be strong for my family and friends, or shrink within myself with grief and pain? I would hope my faith in God would hold me up and remind me that physical death is not the end, that the spirit is eternal, and we will all be together again in paradise. But how would I cope with my life until then if one of my children died?
If that did happen (God forbid), I would look to your Christian example of how to take a tragedy, open my heart and mind, and let God work it out. And work it out He will, as He always has and always will. That you let Him work it out for you is an inspiration for anybody that has suffered the loss of a child. That you took action and listened with your spiritual ears was a good thing, and that blessing has sprouted from a mustard seed into a great tree with its branches and touched many lives in a positive way. Giving lovingly helps this world be a better place to live, and I'm glad I was touched by your generosity and willingness to share. The seats were great, and I had a good time, even though I sat next to a lady with a macramé purse that kept tickling my leg. And occasionally, I would look over and see you chomping on your peanuts (and tossing them onto the field!) and having a great time, and I thought, "Yeah, this is great, Steve is here, and he loves this, being with his dad and watching the ballgame from his seat in heaven."
Thanks again for sharing.
Your friends,
The Hester Family

Dear Mike,
My father and I have always been close, but we rarely get to spend time together like we did at the Cubs vs. White Sox Spring Training game. We had planned this trip from Norfolk, VA to Mesa so that we could spend quality time together before I graduate from college and, in a little more than a year, get married. We used to take trips like this frequently when I was young, but this is the first, and last time that such a trip will happen while I'm in college.
During the game we kept our promise to forget about everything else and just have a good time. My father and I have never had so much fun at a Cubs game (I felt like we were at Wrigley in mid-summer).
While reading your website and the story about Steve, I couldn't help but relate to him. He is only a couple years older than me, he is a Cubs fan, and he has a wonderful father. I cannot imagine the pain you must feel having lost your son at such a young age. My father has always tried to teach me to be positive, even when bad things happen. Steve's Dream has reinforced that message to me.
We are back in Virginia now, my father is back to work and myself back to school. This trip to Spring Training will always be one of the greatest memories we have together. Of our 4 days in Arizona, our best time was compliments of Steve's Dream.
I'll always keep your son and your family in my prayers.

Mike and Jan,
I want to say a huge 'Thank You' for the spring training tickets! It's not every day that you are touched by angels!! That's exactly how it felt to have you share your incredible story and generosity with my son, daughter and me. We were waiting on the rest of our party to arrive at the will call line to get our section 220 tickets to the Cubs/Rockies game when you appeared and shared your story. Since we already had plans to sit somewhere else I didn't feel it was fair to take the tickets when someone who didn't have tickets would benefit more. Long story short, our party was really late and the game had already started and we decided to take the 2 sets of tickets, one in row 3 and one in row 6 of section 105. Just a minute later as we lined up to go in our party arrived and I turned around to give you back the tickets. It was truly like being touched by angles since you were nowhere in sight! Needless to say, my son ended up in the 3rd row with his grandma (who used to relish going to games with her dad and really enjoyed this awesome opportunity), and I with my daughter in the 6th. I didn't realize what a wonderful gift it is to share the knowledge of baseball with a little one that hasn't been exposed to it yet! I will always remember this game and its special memories! You are doing something bigger than you may even realize to make people's lives better! What a rarity!!
Thank You again....Amanda, Derek and Lauren Hall...grandma too!

All my life I have been a Cub fan and my son Daniel is a Cub fan probably as a result of his father’s endless belief that “this is our year”.
Although Daniel lives with his mother in northern California and I live in southern California, this spring I had the opportunity to take him to Phoenix to watch our beloved Cubs in spring training.
When I was growing up in Chicago, my father worked long hours and was never able to take me away to watch the start of a new season. Therefore, this year’s trip represented a dream come true on two levels --to see our Cubs and to share a special bond between my son and I.
The years pass much too fast and I cherish every moment I can be with him. I woke up the day of the game thinking how happy I was to have this special time and forget about everything but a beautiful day at the ballgame.
I had purchased last minute tickets out in left field, but it didn’t matter because we would be together and sharing a day that we would never forget. Little did I know…
We purposely arrived at the park a couple hours early to take it all in and be certain we missed nothing. We had already entered the park and purchased souvenir hats and tee shirts, when we decided to step outside to get a couple of photographs before the game.
There were quite a number of fans mingling outside the entrance, but fate had me approach Mike to ask him to take a father and son picture so we could remember our day. That’s when Mike told us about Steve...
The tickets he so generously gave us improved our view of the game by a factor of ten, but the view of life that he gave us improved our appreciation of what we have by a number to large to calculate.
Daniel and I spent that day doing fun things and building memories. Steve came up in our conversation throughout that day and in the days that followed.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of Steve’s dream and to help us not lose sight of the real priorities in life. Daniel and I will never forget time we spent watching our Cubs beat the Brewers in the spring of 2004, but more importantly, we will never ever forget being a part of the special love that created Steve’s Dream.
God bless you,
Howard

My Dad and I were lucky enough last Saturday March 6th to not only get together to enjoy a day at the ballpark but to also be part of Steve's dream. While standing in line to purchase tickets, we met with you and were given two of the best seats in the house. It was the first warm, sunny day in quite some time however not quite as warm as your generosity and kindness. Sometimes it seems in this life, that tragically, a loss for someone is somebody else's gain. It’s certainly nice to see that you and your family have been able to carry on in such a positive manner despite of the horrific grief and loss that you have endured. I personally believe that success is not measured by what you accumulate in life but more so by what you give back, especially in the face of adversity. Well my friends we got a lot last Saturday with those tickets and that will not soon be forgotten. We thank you for keeping Steve’s dream alive and by doing so making for a super day for me and my Dad. Go Cubbies!
Best Regards,
Buddy Barbera

Mike, Jan, & Steve, I waited in line to buy tickets (lawn seating) to today's sold out game for my son Connor( 8yrs.) and I. Out of nowhere Mike approaches me and begins to tell me about Steve's Dream . And yes, I did think you were trying to sell me tickets. Right after we received the tickets Connor was so cute as he stopped and said a prayer to Steve. It was a moment I'll never forget. Instead of sitting on the lawn we sat three rows behind the Cubs dugout! The fact that Connor and I are Giants fans clearly tells me that Steve does not discriminate!
We had a beautiful day! Connor got ten of his "favorite" Giants autographs, and he didn't even mind that the Giants lost. It was wonderful to meet you Mike and Jan, and I have to say that if Steve is anything like his mom and dad he must be a wonderful kid. Thank you for a very special memory.
Sincerely, Chris & Connor Roche
Mike & Jan, How are you ? We were happy to share autographs with you ! I hope where ever Steve is he is happy . Thank you for the great seats . Love Connor

Thank you very much for the great baseball game experience today. My son Barrett and I were dropped off at the last game of spring training without much hope of finding seats to the game. We never expected to be visited by an angel, or at least an angel's dad. I have been a Cubs fan for many years ever since my dad took me to my first game at Wrigley Field when I was three years old. My son and I live in Little Rock, Arkansas and don't make it to Wrigley Field as often as good Cubs fans should. We are on Spring Break visiting my parents and I decided to try to find a ticket for the last game at Hohokam. Your instructions to enjoy each other and the game were especially important since I have been working too much on this vacation and not hanging out with my son.
Thanks for the amazing afternoon that created many memories for both of us. The seats were great and although the Cubs didn't win, it was an experience we will treasure for a long time. What a fantastic way of remembering your son and helping others to have a great time with their family. Thanks again.

Dear Mike & Jan,
First of all, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the tickets. My 9 year old son, Jobie & I were standing toward the end of a very long line waiting to buy lawn tickets, when we were approached by Mike and another gentleman from Steve's Dream. I have to admit I was very skeptical at first and then something told me "this is sincere". We were honored to pose for a picture for Mike. I was in shock at the generosity that was presented to us and didn't know how to respond at the moment. All I could say is Thank You and that I was grateful. (The people in line around us were as shocked and amazed as us.) So, Jobie and I enjoyed a wonderful game in perfect seats. My wife is always teaching him to be generous and what a way for him to experience that lesson!! He is generous, and through Steve & your kindness he has reaped rewards. It is always a pleasure to watch a baseball game through my son's eyes, but this one was the most special. I remember riding my bike to Hohokam Stadium as a kid and getting autographs from the Cubs players! I have been an avid baseball fan my whole life, here in the valley and was thrilled when we finally got our own team. My wife is from Illinois & grew up a Cubbies fan, too. Thoughts of yesterdays mixed with your generosity today make this a memory for our whole family to cherish. Our hearts go out to your family & friends. This is a very wonderful thing that you are doing. God bless all of you. What an honor it was to have been chosen by Steve & Mike.
Jim & Jobie (Chandler, AZ)

Dear Mike,
Thank you, once again, for being such an angel to Erica, Amanda and myself on Saturday at the Cubs/Brewers game. You were like Santa Claus with your magic backpack full of goodies! Your generosity and love for your son completely overwhelmed us, and we thank you for sharing everything you did. Words cannot express how much it meant to all three of us, for completely different reasons.
I was very sorry to hear of your loss, especially with what happened to Steve. I actually survived a bout with pericarditis in September 2003. I don't know what that is supposed to mean, or how it's supposed to make you feel, but I wanted you to know. Meeting you and seeing the love you have for your son, and your generosity just reaffirmed that there are good people out there and made me believe in life again, because I really haven't lately, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It was an amazing day that none of us will soon forget. We have already passed the word on about Steve's Dream to whoever we can tell about it.
Thanks again and God bless you, Meghan

I just read the story about your son Steve on StevesDream website. I have to admit that I had tears in my eyes because of your family's loss. But now, I can appreciate the miracle your family has of the memory of Steve's Dream and how his dream perpetuates with your love of him through your efforts of his Dream: Sharing the Love of Baseball with Others.
It was an incredible sight and feeling to see my son watch his first professional baseball game, watching the Cubs win and the highlight of seeing him with the three baseballs he was able to catch while sitting in the first row behind the dugout on the first baseline! You (or should I say Steve) made HIS DAY...(or I should say OUR DAY)!
He was so excited on the way home, he wanted to go back to the babysitter and show all his friends his new baseball cap and baseballs!...unfortunately, it was 6:45pm when we arrived in Tucson, so we could not go to the babysitters home as all the kids were gone. In fact, he is usually a late sleeper, but this morning he got up right away, found his hat and baseballs and was ready to go to the babysitter’s home to tell all the kids about his experience at the Cubs/KC game yesterday!
My son John and I will say "Thank You" to Steve, in a prayer, and let you know that your love of Steve and all kids will never be forgotten.
Thanks again,
Mike & John

Hello Mike,
Austin and I just returned home from watching the Cubs beat the Giants. I am a big Giants fan and today I rooted for the Cubs. What you did today put a feeling of happiness in our hearts. Since I could remember, one of my goals in my life was to go see a baseball game with my son. Your generosity helped make today a day I will always cherish. Steve was very lucky to have you and your family in his life. When I finally sat down at my seat I read the brochure you gave me along with the tickets. A feeling of emotion came over me and I couldn't keep from shedding tears of happiness. I always wanted to see a game with my son and you and your family put Austin and me in the best seats available to see his first game. I also logged into Steve’s' website and I the tears were hard to control once again. May God bless you and your family for the joy your family has brought to our lives.
Sincerely, Rick and Austin

On behalf of my son, Tyler and me, we would like to thank-you for your generosity today. Talk about divine intervention, we were going to the game with friends, but had no cell phone to contact them when we got there (they had the tickets). I was becoming very despondent at not being able to find or contact them, and having to go through the ordeal of scalping tickets. About the time I had lost hope and was looking for a scalper you guys appeared with your inspiring story and open hearts. Spring training is a ritual for my son and I since he was just able to walk, to be near his heroes, and to interact with them, has led to countless memories and special times between us. Your generous act has led to another memory and was a fantastic example of what human hearts can do for my son, and I think that was more meaningful then the game itself. My God continue to walk with you and your family on your journey of generosity and love.
Chris & Tyler

Hi, My name is Alex Miller. I am 16 years old and I love the Cubs. For me there is nothing like the feeling of walking through the tunnel of a big stadium and emerging at the top to find the field, the stands, the bleachers, the fans all creating a beautiful horizon which engulfs you and humbles you and convinces you that this is truly the big time. On March 30th 2006, my mother and I stood in line at the ticket booth outside Hohokam Park to see if we could get the chance to experience that feeling. Obviously we had not purchased tickets yet and we were worried that the game was sold out, as most Cubs spring training games usually are. We didn't have a good feeling about the ticket availability ,and we were just about to give up when all of a sudden, like an angel swooping down from the heavens, you came up to us to offer your tickets free of charge. Your story was powerful and humbled both my mother and I. What an admirable thing to be doing. Your selflessness and love for your son is unparalleled. It was an honor for me to attend the game in Steve's memory. The seats were magnificent and the Cubs played as though it were a regular season game (7 to 4 over the D-backs). I enjoyed every minute of it with both my mother and my father.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for allowing us to participate in Steve's Dream.
Gratefully, Alex M

I really want to thank you and tell you how much your story touched my heart today. First of all thank you so much for the tickets, my two daughters, my husband, and I had such a good time. The seats were perfect. We are both school teachers and are on spring break this week so we decided to head down and see if we could get some lawn seats. You were a blessing to us because of the life lessons you taught my family today. The thought of losing a child brings instant tears to my eyes but the way you turned your sorrow into such a giving attitude gives me strength. I plan on sharing this with my students and hopefully teaching them an important life lesson. In the world today it is so refreshing to come across someone like you and your family. My daughters were in awe of you and we all said a prayer for your family and for Steve. I would love to donate to your cause and would love to spread Steve's Dream. Thank you again!

Mike, I just wanted to let you know what a pleasure and inspiration in was for my son Nicholas and me to meet you. We are at a good deal of games that he is either playing in or we are watching and I feel it is a bond that keeps us tighter as father and son. I cannot even fathom what the loss of a son is like, but your efforts to keep Steve's memory alive and to create an atmosphere of giving and togetherness between family members is to be applauded. We would like to thank you for the fabulous tickets on 3/22, and we kept our promise of no talk of work or school. This day seemed to have a bit of magic in the air, first to meet you and have you give us these seats to a sold out Cubs/Sox game, and then no more the 10 minutes later to meet Ron Santo entering the park, to the end of the day when my son got Zambrano's autograph (his favorite MLB pitcher). I have to believe Steve got a kick out of the smiles on our faces throughout the day. We will keep you and your family in our prayers and best of luck in the future with Steve's Dream.

It was truly an honor to meet you last weekend and learn about Steve's Dream. As I listened to your story, I was really touched. First, as a mom, I couldn't imagine losing a child and I was truly inspired by your positive attitude and "Always Blessings, Never Losses" mentality! Then, I thought of my own relationship with my brother, who I was at the game with, and I couldn't imagine the loss felt by Sara, too. You have been on my mind throughout the week, and I thank you for your generosity in creating an experience at the Cubs game which we will never forget. Your dedication to Steve and his love of baseball is truly inspirational! I'm positive Steve is smiling from Heaven as he sees all the people you have touched with his story. God Bless you!

My dad and I have wanted to come see spring training games for years but I've always been busy playing baseball. This being my first year of college, I stopped playing ball after playing for 12 years. My dad taught me how to love and appreciate the game so it was tough telling him I was going to stop playing. This road trip to Arizona from California was the first time we have been able to spend time together in a months and I cannot thank you enough for giving us not only the gift of two free tickets but the ability to strengthen a relationship that was in need of repair. Over the years, I've learned that baseball isn't just a game but a unique way to bring people together of every age. It is so refreshing to see how you have used your son's life as a symbol to rejoice in a way that sees the blessings. Thank you for inspiring my dad and I not only to continue doing life together, alongside a beautiful game, but to appreciate what we have and strive to seek the positives in the struggles of life. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Mike, JJ and I enjoyed the game immensely. We were joined by my other two daughters and my wife, Cindy. I hope this was not contrary to what you were trying to achieve. May Steve rest with God and be content in the amazing amount of joy he is spreading throughout our country. All the Best,

Hello there...
My name is Brandon. I live in Tempe, Az. My sister, brother-in-law, and nephew just stopped by my house after attending today's baseball game. They both explained to me about how you blessed them with tickets to today’s game. I think that was a great thing to do and I wish that there were more people in the world like yourself. I also glanced at your website and think that it is great. I would like to know more about the history of Steve because I am 26 years old myself and love baseball. Please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for the tickets to the Cubs game Monday March 3, 2003. The day at Hohokam Park was a perfect end to a weekend we had spent celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Plus, we came home with a program signed by Dusty Baker. The seating was outstanding. Thank you for convincing me the first row was the best seat in the park. You were right!! My husband and I have both lost sons. My son was my only child. He died at the age of 27. We have felt the loss, the pain, and the overwhelming grief that you felt. I believe in miracles. Hearing of Steve's story and how Steve's Dream was born was a miracle. You have taken a tragedy and turned it into a living memorial to your son. Steve's spirit and his love of baseball will live on. I feel fortunate to have met both of you.
With heartfelt Thanks,

Dear Mike,
I can't express the blessing I sensed today as I took my little grandson, Dillon, with me to the ball game. A special memory I've always cherished is the time I went to a spring training game with my own grandpa many years ago. I'm an elementary school teacher soon to retire. This week is spring break, and I was very glad for the chance to make sure my own grandson would also have the same memory I cherished---going to a ball game with his grandpa!! When you approached us with this incredible story of Steve's Dream, I was truly amazed. What a wonderful expression of God's love and presence on the same day our country is going to war with Iraq!! We see God every day in the beauty of our world and in people like you who look for ways to share His love to others. On Friday of this week I face some oral surgery, and this was like a personal message to me that God would certainly be there for me as He was there for me and my grandson today. We were so amazed at the wonderful seats. We were wondering if there would be any seats left, and we ended up sitting in the best seats in the ballpark. My little grandson was totally amazed as he wolfed down two jumbo hot-dogs and took in the sights. He is seven years old, and this was an exciting day for him. The best part of all is the fact that not only did my grandson get to have my same childhood memory; He gave me a new one as well. This one is even more special to m. My Father in heaven was definitely there enjoying the game with us and He sent you, His angel, to be sure we'd enjoy the game!!! Blessings on you and thank you for your generosity and love. My wife and I are both so touched by the incredible story of your son and your miracle of making his dream live on. Your love for him is a testimony to all of God's love for this world regardless of the trials we all face at this time in history.
Sincerely,
Bob Lusher

Mike, Jan & Sara,
I want to thank you so very much for letting us share in Steve's Dream. Kyle talked about the trip for weeks in anticipation before the game last weekend and is still talking about it now. It is so important to appreciate and share the love of family and it is a beautiful reinforcement of God's gift to stop and view the world through the eyes of a child. The work of love you have created in Steve's Dream is living testimony that splendor can be born from tragedy. Thank you again for allowing us to share the dream. May God's light continue to brighten your path. Steve D.

My mother who is 86 yrs old lives in Chicago where my wife and I were raised and every year I try and fly here to Phoenix and my son and I meet here for a week of Cubs training. Last year we were standing waiting to see if we could get a ticket. You approached us and started to share with us your story of Steve. The story touched our hearts and we were so moved. When you finished your story, you then surprised us beyond belief by giving us 2 tickets to the game, fantastic seats might I add. The generosity you showed and your heartfelt story made us realize what a great family Steve came from. I have read some of the emails on his web site and the brochure you gave us and he seemed like such a fantastic son, baseball fan and a great young man. Our Hearts go out to you and your family. Time will pass but the memories will always be with you and I am a firm believer in he is always with you.
Hope to see you at training this year...we will be out there the last week of March. Thank you again and God Bless

It seems like such a long time ago that I have been trying to write to you via E-mail to express our appreciation for your generous gift of two tickets to the Cubs game versus the Milwaukee Brewers. On several occasions I wrote to you via E-mail only to find that my message to you could not be delivered. I asked my son, what am I doing wrong, my Email says, "no such e-mail name available". I felt awful bad as we certainly appreciated your offer of the tickets. I had not seen my son for some time and we were planning a good time together at the old ball game. For many years I had been a fan of the Cubs as in the inception of TV the Cubs and Sox were televised in Racine, Wis on a regular basis. I especially enjoyed the heyday of Ernie B. and the great support of all their fans. Incidentally I got to know Ernie when in his later years he played golf in pro-ams and at the time I was caddying for my niece on the pro tour. The Cubs have a special place in my heart and the team is still a favorite of mine. We had a great time at the game in Phoenix thanks to your generous offer for the tickets. I have three sons, all athletes, and blessed with talent in their respected sports. After reading all of the articles about Steve, I only wish I could have met him, He's my kind of guy. Dedicated, sincere and it seems a love for all sports. I know, as you stated in your articles that Steve is surely with you and your family in all that you are accomplishing with your memorial to him, through fathers and sons being able to enjoy this great sport together at the old ball game. May God continue to bless you and your family in your wonderful endeavor to keep your sons memory alive knowing that he is still always with you for the playing field knows no bounds.
Respectfully, Jim and Bud

Hi Mike, It's me Sergio Castro. You gave me and my son Andy, two tickets to see the Cubs play the White Sox during spring training. Your probably wondering why it took me so long to e-mail you, The truth is I didn't have a computer, never have, until a few days ago. Now I have to teach myself how to use it. I'm typing this letter to you using my right index finger. It’s taking me forever but it’s worth it. I don't know how to thank you for what you did. I think about you a lot, I think about you and Steve and the relationship you two must have had. I think about me and my boys, and cherish every moment I have with them. My other son is Tony, He was at the hotel the day of the game with my wife Tina. Tony is three years old, Andy is five. When you gave us the tickets everything happened so fast that I feel I didn't thank you enough. It wasn't until we got to our seats and I read the brochure that it hit me .Mike, I could not stop crying. When I finally got a hold of my emotions I held my son and reminded him how much I love him. I was so excited about the seats which were in the fourth row that we didn't pick anything up at the concession stand before you gave us the tickets we were going to buy lawn seats. We usually get lawn seats, I'll buy my son something to drink, watch the game, and play catch with Andy, Andy's usually hungry by the fifth inning so we'll leave early and go get something to eat, I can't afford some of those concession prices. This day however was different. I don't think Steve would have liked it if we left early. We went to the concession stand and bought hot-dogs, pretzels, coke's, peanuts, cotton candy, after dropping everything of at our seats we went to the gift shop where I bought Andy a Cubs mini Bat, and ball, and a camera. On this day everything was perfect, I didn't have any problems, me and my son had a blast. I didn't feel like I was at a baseball game with my son, It felt like I was ten years old and was at a ball game with my best friend. I got a lot of great pictures, once I learn more about computers I'll send you some. The Cubs won the game, Borowsky got the last out on a strike out, as he made his way to the dug-out he tossed the ball to Andy, everything was just perfect. I keep the ball next to the brochure in my room. I've told all my family and friends about Steve's dream, I cry every time. Mike from the bottom of our heart's me and my family thank you, we think it's very special what you’re doing, and just like in your family baseball is a religion here, we love baseball and everything that it stands for. You have friends for life in El Paso, Texas.
I hope to see you next spring training, If you’re ever in my neck of the woods and need anything, anything at all, just call or e-mail me. THANK YOU MIKE AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOU’RE FAMILY.
Sergio Castro

Dear Mike,
Thank you so much for the tickets you gave to my family. You provided 4 tickets for my husband, son (Jess), daughter (Jenny), and me. We were in Phoenix on a trip that is a miracle in itself. My brother, who didn't even know I existed for 40 years, found me and invited my family to come visit and meet him. His name is also Mike.
We had a wonderful time at the game! Now my son, Jess, has decided that the Cubs are his favorite team. You have truly blessed our family with your generosity.
Thank you,
Mary Cornelius Ozark, Missouri

Can you imagine the "thrill" of 4 boys receiving tickets for a game they were not sure they would see? The "boys”, ages 69-44-13 and 9 were from Iowa. Grandpa Dick, son-in-law Tim, grandsons, Ben and Jack. Avid Cub fans. Grump has been attending spring ball for 20 yrs. (Maybe he was in the ballpark with Steve at some time). Ben and Jack were so thrilled, and have told the story back in Iowa to many. Jack, age 9 also was excited even more when Gene Clines came over and gave him a ball! (G-pa and Jack were together at the time). We are very appreciative for the generosity you have shown to so many, now including this Iowa family. We will also remember Steve in our prayers, as well as the rest of the family. Again we say "Thanks"

DEAR MIKE AND JAN,
FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR TAKING SO LONG TO SEND YOU THIS E-MAIL. WE MET ON OPENING DAY OF SPRING TRAINING FOR THE CUBBIES, AND YOU AND YOUR WIFE WERE GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO GIVE ME AND MY TWO NEPHEWS TWO FRONT ROW TICKETS TO THE GAME.
I WAS TRULY MOVED BY SUCH A KIND AND GENEROUS ACT. THE TRIP TO SPRING TRAINING WAS THE FIRST TIME (of many) FOR MY FATHER AND TWO BROTHERS TOGETHER. MY BROTHERS BROUGHT THEIR SONS TO THEIR FIRST SPRING TRAINING ALSO. THE GAME WAS GREAT...ALTHOUGH I GOT TO COLLECT A FEW SELECT AUTOGRAPHS. I GOT ALL THE AUTOGRAPHS I WANTED, EXCEPT SAMMYS...LOOKS LIKE I’LL HAVE TO RETURN NEXT YEAR FOR ANOTHER ATTEMPT.
AFTER THE GAME MY FATHER RETURNED TO THE ROOM AND SAW THE NEWS CLIP OF THE KIND GESTURE YOU HAD DONE FOR US AND WAS BROUGHT TO TEARS... I HAVEN'T SEEN MY FATHER TEAR UP LIKE THAT IN QUITE SOME TIME.
WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND TOLD MY WIFE OF YOUR STORY AND GESTURE, SHE WAS BROUGHT TO TEARS ALSO. WE HAVE A 2 1/2 YEAR OLD SON, WHO WE THOUGH WERE TO YOUNG TO ATTEND HIS FIRST SPRING TRAINING. NEXT YEAR WILL BE HIS FIRST ... I THINK ABOUT YOUR KIND GESTURE DAILY AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE DAY I CAN INTRODUCE MY SON TO THE KIND AND CARING FAMILY I MET THIS SPRING.
I WISH TO THANK YOU AND YOUR WIFE FOR THE EVERLASTING MEMORY YOU PROVIDED ME AND MY FAMILY...ENJOY THE SEASON AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR .....
SINCERELY,
THE PHIL FERNANDEZ FAMILY

I am sending this for my husband & son who were lucky to receive 2 tickets to the Cubs baseball game in Mesa on March 8th. They were in line to buy 2 lawn set tickets when you approached them. How lucky they were. My son was absolutely thrilled with the tickets. They were in the front row behind 3rd base. He said that you could hear the players talking & Wendell came over & talked with several of the fans. He said this was the 1st time he had ever sat in the front row of a game. We are from Illinois & go to Arizona for about 3 weeks when the Cubs are in spring training. This is the first year that our son has come out to visit us. He has been a Cub fan all of his life. After the game they couldn't get in the door fast enough to tell me what had happened. It will be an experience that they will always remember. Thanks so much for sharing Steve's Dream with my son & husband.

Dear Mike and Jan:
Thank you for sharing your tickets with my son, John and I, so we could enjoy the Cub/Sox game. John was thrilled, as was I, to be so close to the field. It was an experience I will always remember. More important is that your story, Steve's dream, is an inspiration and an invaluable lesson to me. I have already passed along the web site address to several others in my office so that you and Steve can inspire others.
Thanks and may God bless you and your family,
Mike

Dear Mike and Jan,
On March 15, 2004, you were kind enough to give us 4 tickets to the Cub's Spring Training game. My daughter was visiting with my grandsons from Texas and this was the highlight of their trip.
I've never been able to spend a lot of time with my grandson's, Ryan & Alex, because they have always lived to far away. It was so memorable to be able to share their passion for the Cub's with them. Seeing them "high-five" each other and celebrate the win was so heartwarming to me. I felt as though I finally got to share in a part of their lives.
They soon will be moving to Detroit, so once again we will be far away from each other. Which just made this game with them so special to me.
Thank you again....making memories is a wonderful part of life.

Dear Mike,
I want to thank you for sharing Steve's Dream with my grandson Austin and me, last Thursday, March 11th. We were on our way to the ticket booth for the Cubs and Rockies game when you approached us. We are very honored that you chose us for two of your tickets. We had a wonderful time at the game and I must say, how touched others and I were with Steve's Dream. What a wonderful way to continue your son's love of baseball and the Cubs, with other children (and their fathers and grandfathers!). His memory and your kindness will now be a part of our memories of baseball's 2004 spring training.
Thank you again,
Don Pottenge

Mike - You may remember me from outside Gate B at stadium on 3/11/04. I had asked you if the games were usually a sellout. As we had just started talking a father and son walked up and you said you were looking for someone to give tickets to for the game. I watched as you approached the two fellows and saw you give the tickets to them. I tapped you on the shoulder and said with tears in my eyes "God bless you". You then told me the story and gave me the card with the web site address. This is so touching - especially to me since our son's name is Steve and he is a baseball fan - Little League thru high school player. Keep up "the dream" and many will be blessed with your generosity but most important each time you see a young fellow go to the game with his father you will know "Steve's Dream" is alive.
God bless you and your family

Dear Mike and Jan,
It is with great pleasure that I write to you and wish you the best in all you do in memory of Steve's Dream.
On March 10, 2004, I had the opportunity to take my son to a recent Cubs game and I was approached by Mike in the parking lot. At first I was a bit skeptical on Mike's "pitch" to both my son and I.
As I listened to Mike I began to realize that I was there for that same reason you have created Steve's Dream. To enjoy one day out of life with my son and forget all troubles outside of the ballpark. No matter what life throws you, nothing else should matter but enjoying the day within the ballpark. It could be your son or daughter, but the fact of the matter was ENJOY the time at the ballpark.
Thank you for the seats, 105/H/3-4. Best Wishes in getting you message to all who enjoy the national past time.
My son and I wish you nothing but the best for your future. Should we ever have the opportunity to have spring training "season" tickets and we are not going to use them, we will be more than happy to donate them to your Dream.
Once again thank you for the opportunity to sit so close to the Cubs baseball team. We really enjoyed our day.

Mike and Jan, My family just moved here this past July from the mid-west. We were so happy that we would be able to see the some of the Cub's spring training games (since we were unsure if we could make a trip to Wrigley Field this season). We just love Cub's baseball. But it wasn't until Mike approached me and my four year- old daughter, Taylor, before Wednesday, March 10th's game vs. Oakland that I realized the true reason why we all love Cub's baseball. Sure, we love the players and the treats and the seventh- inning stretch. But the ultimate reason is that we all can watch it together as a family. So thank you very much for reminding me of this. Now, when I am at a Cub's game or watching it on tv, I will think of Steve's dream and truly soak in the moments with my family. So thank you very much. My daughter wanted to say thank you too. She had a blast and even got a couple of Cubbie autographs too. Thanks, Tricia and Taylor Strupp

Mike and Jan, The experience of going to a ballgame has always been a special one for me and my 4 year old son Ryan and I was even starting to take it for granted living in Phoenix, but that all changed for me when you approached me on 3/6/04. I will never take going to a ballgame with my son for granted again. What you are doing with Stevesdream is the most unselfish and loving thing you could be doing to keep the dream of your son alive. Being a single father, I cannot fathom not having my son with me at a game now and after that game (with the Cubs defeating the Giants 5-3), I will never attend another one without my son again. What you are doing is great and I hope to be able to open my heart up that way and do such a great thing sometime too. I love the website, and Mike, thanks for getting my son a ball in the 9th inning. It was an unforgettable experience. Thanks again, Steve Hover

Jan & Mike,
Just a quick note to let you know what a difference you made for me and the boys yesterday! We were actually dropping by the park trying to recover Jake's lost mitt from the day before when you happened upon us with a great surprise! It's a day that will not soon be forgotten: baseballs, autographs, home runs and hotdogs. It's a wonderful thing that you're doing and believe me, it's making a difference for lot's of people.
Although Nathan fell asleep in the 8th inning (and you've now got pictures to prove it), Jake is still talking about the experience. Unfortunately, we didn't recover Jake's mitt, but yesterday's experience sure was a silver lining!
From one former "Lake Zurichian" to another - thanks again,
Mark, Jake (6) and Nathan (3)

Mike, Jan, and Steve,
I want to thank you all so much for sharing your gift with my family. We live in Alaska and were coming down for a week so I purchased tickets on the internet in the upper level. When you approached me I really thought you were trying to sell tickets like the many other people who approached us on the way to will call. When you shared your story and your gift with us it really made me stop and think of the special moments in life. This one in particular was my son's, who is two, very first baseball game. To see Tyler's eyes light up, as he loves baseball and hockey, as we sat in the 6th row behind the Cubs dugout brought a tear to my eye. I have told every person who asks about our trip about your special gift as that was the highlight of my week. Again thank you so much as you made not only my wife and I's week but you made a very special day for Tyler's first baseball game. Thank you for keeping Steve's memory and dream alive so that many more people can be as fortunate as us.
Mike, Jackie, and Tyler Graeber

We want to thank you for the tickets to the Rockies vs. Cubs on March 30. My family had a great time, and it always helps when the Cubs win. When we first arrived at the ballpark, we were hoping to get some tickets to the lawn area. It was my wife and kids first spring game ever. When we entered the game, one of the ushers noticed my son and he gave him a real baseball. The game was full of hits, plays and excitement on a beautiful afternoon. Overall, we had an awesome experience. Once again, thank you and God bless you and your family.

Dear Mike,
Thank you so very much for the two wonderful Cubs tickets today. My 4 year old son and I are visiting my parents here and decided to take in a game. Thanks to you, we had prime seats and got an autograph from Dusty! We had to leave somewhat early on in the game, but had a perfect day of baseball! Go Cubbies!
Our family has very strong roots in Chicago and to all of their sports teams. The Cubs have always been a part of our lives and will continue to be in the next generation. My husband was not able to be at the game with us today, but has enjoyed many Cubs spring training games over the years. His grandmother lived near Chicago for her entire life and his father grew up there as well. He has visited Wrigley Field many, many times in the past and has watched even more games with his Grandma. Baseball will continue to be important in our lives as we watch our son grow to love it as much as we do. You can count on us to pass on the same tradition that you and Steve had.
I am very touched by your story and your organization. I am very much a philanthropist, so I admire your work on behalf of Steve. I appreciate you kindness to us and for a day my son will never forget.
Thank you and God Bless,
Jennifer and Matthew

Our family just wanted to tell you "Thank you" so much for the tickets. My husband and our kids (Max-12 & Lexi-9) came down to Mesa to see my Dad (their Grandpa) who lost his wife (my Mom & their Nana) last May. We are a "huge" baseball family, and I truly believe it helps keep everyone close. We are from Minnesota and my husband played college and town team baseball until our son Max was old enough to play (age 4). Our son now plays 13A traveling baseball and my husband is the coach and my daughter plays 9yr old baseball with the boys. Steve's Dream is very inspirational and very special, we plan on making it a family tradition to go to Florida every year for the Twins Spring training and to try and keep this family tradition, even after our kids are grown and married. We are even going to try and get Grandpa to leave the perfect weather in Mesa and come to the humidity in Florida! Thanks again! Our kids thought the game was the second best part of the trip after the Grand Canyon!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for making one day of my daughter's spring break visit to Phoenix while visiting me a very special and memorable day.

God bless you and Steve's Dream.
Thank You,

My son and I would like to Thank You for the tickets you gave us and the great game experience for the Friday March 25th game against the Angels. My son and I went to the game with another father son friends without tickets just hoping we could buy some. It was quite a shock when you approached and talked us about Steve’s dream and the good work that this mission has accomplished. We thoroughly enjoyed the game, it was a beautiful day and my son Andrew and I had one of those days that we both can remember many years from now. Thank You for what you gave us, a day to enjoy baseball, talking one on one and a chance to break away from the everyday problems. It is a beautiful mission to make it possible for others to enjoy a spring baseball game. Thank You.

Hi Mike and Jan,
I want to thank you so much for the 4 tickets to the cubs and royals on 15th of March. i thought i was going to have tickets left for me at the park there was a mix up and there were no tickets for me and my family. So we went on line to purchase tickets and my son Richard was getting impatient because it was getting close to game time. Then you approached us like our guardian angel and gave us 4 tickets to game. My son was so happy when we got inside and sat right behind the cub’s dugout. During the game he got a baseball from one of the players and he was so excited. When we returned home he brought to school to show everyone. It was truly a beautiful day for my family we had a lot of fun together and we will never forget that baseball game together. We all thank you very much for a special family day.
Love,
Andrea, Richard, Natalie and Sophia

Today is Saturday March 19, 2005 and the Chicago Cubs are playing the Milwaukee Brewers. Right now it's the bottom of the fourth and the Cubs are ahead! My husband (a lifetime Cubs fan) and four of our sons are sitting in Hohokam Stadium enjoying the game from seats that we couldn't afford right now thanks to you and "Steve's Dream". I've already received several calls from them so excited I can barely make out what they're saying!
After you approached my husband and offered him the tickets, he immediately called me and told me to get online to check out your site. He was deeply touched by Steve's story and wanted to let you know how very much he appreciates your dedication as a fan, but more importantly, as a father.
Thank you again from the bottom of our very grateful hearts!

Hi Mike,
Well at least I feel like I know you. Both my girlfriend [Betsy] and I sat behind you (and then with you) at the Cubs vs. White Sox game on March 14th.
Thank you so ever kindly for sharing Steve's dream with me and my girlfriend from Chicago. It's always nice to meet nice people, but it's a wonderful blessing to meet someone who carries a dream of a loved one continuously and unselfishly. My heart was, and still is, completely overjoyed. I hope I see you around (Arizona) again some time. But in the meantime, a hug for you and your wife and a special prayer to Steve for this glorious dream.
I wish you both many blessings and wonderful joys throughout your life and in memory of your son Steve.
Loving Wishes Margo

I would like to thank you for the tickets to the Cubs game on 3/14/05. My 5 year old son and I got to enjoy our first game of the spring training season watching the Cubs play the White Sox. We shared a hot dog and Coke and enjoyed the perfect weather. We came close to catching a couple balls and went home after really enjoying the game. I appreciate the generous gift you gave my son and I. We will always remember going to this game and talking with you. Thank you, Jim

Mike & Jan:
Thank you for the tickets to the Cubs/Diamondbacks game on 3/11/05. I was at the game with my grandson, Elijah, when you approached me and offered me third row tickets for the game. Elijah is a big baseball fan at four years old as his father, Ernie, plays professional baseball. Since their family is not able to travel with Ernie, Eli doesn't often get to attend the games. Ernie was a gold medal winner in the 2000 Olympic games.
I have never before purchased tickets from a scalper, so when you approached me with the offer of tickets, I was not only touched, but relieved.
Elijah and I really enjoyed the game and appreciate your kind gesture very much.
Your son, Steve, was a lucky young man to have such kind and loving parents. We have thought of you often since then and have told many people about our day at the game and about your son.
Thank you,
Gary & Elijah

Thanks to Your kindness, and love for Your son, You touched David and I in a very special, precious way. And many, many others too I'm sure. Dear Steve,
Thank you so very much for the tickets to the March 30th game at HoHoKam Park. Thank you also for making the exception that you did and allow just the wife & myself to attend the game. The seats were fantastic & the Cubs won 7 - 4 against the Diamondbacks.
What a great tribute to your son to send other kids to the Ballpark with their parents to experience the dream that your son was living. This is so special what you are doing as I know your son is in heaven sharing the pleasure these kids are having to go to a Ballgame. Your kindness made us think of when I took my son to Wrigley Field when he was 7 - thirty three years ago. He was such a happy camper & he still talks about it today.
I have read your website & letters & it was so nice meeting you March 30th.

Dear Steve’s Dream
In the past 30 years my friend and I have made a tradition to make it up to phoenix for an all sports weekend. Now that my son is old enough,
he can also enjoy the experience. We had a great time watching the game and my son even got Kerry Wood and Jerome Williams’ autograph before the game.
I don’t think any of that would have been possible if it wasn’t for you guys at Steve’s Dream. We know that Steve is with all of us cheering on the Cubs!!! We appreciate and respect what you and your foundation are trying to accomplish. Thank you again for your generosity!!!!

Last year when we visited family in Phoenix we missed out on attending a baseball game. So this year before we left Wisconsin we vowed to get to a game. On Tuesday, March 21st, my son and I were walking through the parking lot when we were approached with the gift of tickets. In this day and age it seemed strange that anyone would just give away tickets. I am glad we stopped to hear the story of Steve’s Dream. The fun continued as we entered the ballpark. My son was given a game ball because someone noticed he was wearing a Wisconsin ball cap. While we were sitting in our great third base seats, my son was able to get his game ball signed. All in all a very good time at the ball park. The game ended with a rain out in the 6th inning. We walked away soaking wet, but it didn’t bother us in the least. We were just glad to have the chance to be at the game. God bless you and all your efforts. What a wonderful way to share a “Pay It Forward” opportunity in this world. Thank you for allowing us to be part of Steve’s dream.

Dear Steve's Dream: We just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at the Cubs' game on Mon., Mar. 13th. The seats were fabulous and we loved being so close to the Cubs' dugout and players. Your donation of the tickets was greatly appreciated. Although we didn't catch a fly ball, we did get a signed baseball from Dusty Baker himself! How exciting!
We think your charity is doing a great job bringing families together in a loving way. Especially families like ours who love baseball! We think the way you are honoring your son Steve is extremely special. We know he is looking down from heaven smiling and cheering on the Cubs!!!!!! His memory is living strong through all of you. Thank you again for your generosity and for your giving nature.

Mike , Jan & Sara,
My family recently spent spring break in the Phoenix area. The trip was planned for my oldest son (Drake, age 7) and I to attend some of the Spring Training baseball games. A true baseball fan myself, I have been blessed that my oldest son seems to love the game as well. While standing in line to purchase tickets for the Cubs/Rockies game on Monday, Mike approached us and shared Steve's Dream with us and gave us tickets to the game. I want to thank you for the tickets and thank you for sharing Steve's Dream. I spent some time on the website today and could not hold back the tears. While I have never taken the "little things" in life for granted, the story of Steve's Dream is likely to remain with me each time I attend a baseball game with my children. Thanks again for sharing the tickets and Steve's Dream.

Mike, Thank you for the tickets you gave us for the game last Thursday. We had purchased tickets before we came out but forgot to bring them of course when we were in line to get more and you approached us. My son and I have been coming out for spring training since the ’04 season and love it. I know you know how it is to get to the games with your son and it’s something that can never be taken away from you. We will continue to be coming to Mesa for games in the following years and I hope someday my son will be able to take his kids as well. Thank you very much and keep up the good work. If you ever need tickets for games in Chicago please let me know. We are season ticket holders and would be glad to return the favor. Thank you.

Dear Mike and Jan,
First I would like to apologize for the long delay in getting this sincere thanks to you for the fantastic seats you afforded us to this game last spring training. I was under the impression my son Ryan had sent you a thank you, but in planning this year's Cactus League trip, he alerted me he thought I had thanked you. So I apologize deeply for not contacting you sooner.
This season will be our third Cactus League Father-Son trip. We live in Vista, CA - a northern suburb of San Diego. 2004 was our inaugural trip. What a time. What fantastic memories.
Ryan and I are baseball fanatics. I am a single father, and baseball has been a bond which has allowed us to transcend all the issues involved with a brutal separation and divorce. In 2004 our trip consisted of 5 games in 3 days, at 5 different stadiums throughout the Cactus League. Last year in 2005, we pressed the envelope and actually made 7 games in 4 days. What an adventure. We keep a scorebook of each game, staple our tickets in the book, and get as many autographs as possible by players or coaches on top of the applicable score sheet. We also staple in the box score from the newspaper in the scoreboard.
We had never been to Ho-Ho-Kam, or a Cubs Spring Training game the day we met you. As you may remember, we did not have seats to the game and the game was sold out. Ryan was very disappointed, and wanted to leave. I suggested we walk around the stadium a bit, and perhaps we can find a scalper with a reasonable price. Fat chance! The prices were outrageous, and I told Ryan we would rush to try and catch another game. As we were circling to our car, Mike noticed us walking together and flagged us down, shouting, "Are you father and son". At first I was leery and skeptical, thinking Mike was another scalper. However, as soon as Mike said his first words, I knew this was something different.
As Mike told us of Steve and the foundation, my heart opened up. I remember being amazed that he was not shedding a tear while speaking with us. I, on the other hand, was trembling and I was fighting back the tears. Attached is a photo Mike took of Ryan and I after he gave us the tickets. Needless to say, it was a picture-perfect day for baseball, and we so thoroughly enjoyed the game. As I said earlier, we are baseball fanatics, and being able to see the Cubs play was quite a moment.
I did want to pass along some other incredible news too. Last season was Ryan's last in little league. His regular season team finished 38-0, winning the league, Vista City, and Southern Cal District 28 titles. Ryan was selected for the leagues all star team. The team wound up winning district, section, state, and the regional titles, and therefore earning a trip to the 2005 Little League World Series. They were the West team. They won their first 24 games, and played Hawaii for the National Championship on ABC's Wide World of Sports. They were defeated that day, 6-1, but came back the following day to defeat Japan and clinch third place in the world, out of over 7,000 teams. In that game against Japan, Ryan had a 2 run homer and in the bottom of the 6th, with the game knotted at 4, Ryan slashed a double into the gap left center, driving in the winning run with a walk off hit. All in all, his teams wound up 63-1, and he played on national TV seven times.
Hope to see you this season.
Lee and Ryan G

Dear Mike, Jan and Sara,
Just a short note of "thanks" to you from my daughter Rachel and I for the tickets you offered to us for the baseball game last Wednesday (03/07/07). We had a wonderful time enjoying the game from those "premium seats" along the third base line and even ended up bringing home a baseball courtesy of the Oakland A's third baseman who tossed me a foul ball he had fielded. My daughter has it proudly displayed inside her dining room hutch, was hoping to get it signed by him too, but.
Been traveling down to spring training for the past 10 years or so since my daughter "relocated" to central Phoenix. Along with hiking and her "daddy do list" we do manage to wander over and catch a nice handful of spring training Cub games. We generally drop blanket in the outfield grass section so the seats were even more special this day. I prefer to come down for the first few days of spring training to see the mix of the young up and coming future and the veterans in these early spring games.
I have been a baseball fan (and player up through high school) forever and have fond memories of going to ball games with my dad. Intially from New York our first game was a Saturday afternoon Yankees - Red Sox game back in 1952. When Dad was transferred out to the Chicago area I recall taking in more than one Cub - Brooklyn Dodger game, he was born and raised in Brooklyn. Some very special times spent with him through those years at the ball park, times I am now sharing with my daughter on my annual spring visits with her, Dad would have enjoyed being there too.
I have two sons and another daughter who live locally here in the Chicago area. Me eldest boy lives on Sheffield Avenue, a stone's throw from Wrigley Field, so there are generally a few nights where I leave the office, join him for a night game, spend the night, and head back to work the next morning (what a life). My youngest son is also a fan and will soon be blessing my wife Mary Ann and I with a grandson, I have one of the boys old little league wooden bats which I have sanded clean and will "label" for him and restain as he enters the world come late July. I have done this with a couple of other left over bats for the other two boys labeling my eldest sons with the phrase "long suffering Cubs fan". My youngest daughter enjoys going to the games but is not real fan in the sense of the word. Her love is horses, english style riding and jumping, she exercises horses, gives riding lessons and still competes on occasion.
As for me, wife Mary Ann and I are "retired". Mary Ann was a director of a crisis pregnancy center for a number of years and most recently finished working with a Hospice organization. I have an accounting degree and worked for many years prior to be "retired" during a reorganization within the company. I have come back to work on special projects through the last several years and am just starting my third year on this latest (never ending) assignment. Only work three days a week too, nice!!!!
Did I say "short" note. Again,,,thanks for the tickets,,,made for a memorable day which will long be remembered,,,thank you for keeping "Steve's Dream" alive through us this day.
Sincerely,,,,,,
Geoff and Rache

Just a short note to express my sincere thanks to Mike, Jan and Sara. On March 17, 2007 I was able to take my three children to the Cubs game. This was their first spring training game and they were mesmerized with how close the players were. My seven year old daughter received a baseball from one of the players and after the game she had to get some autographs, even though she was not sure who was signing the ball. We all had a great time and I'm sure my children will remember the day for the rest of their lives. Again thank you, continue the good work and
God bless.

Mike, Thanks for the tickets to the 3/21 Cubs game for my son and I. It was a great game, saw several home runs plus the Cubs won. The seats were great, my son and I had a great day. First game we’ve been able to see together in over a year. We both love baseball and really enjoyed the day. We saw 2 other games while we were in Phoenix but will always remember this one. It’s great what you’ve been doing for father and sons. We get to spend so little time together, your experience and thoughtfulness really helped us to appreciate the time we have together. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in this endeavor. Thanks very much for your thoughtfulness.

Dear Steve's Dream,
My name is Bryson and I play for an all-star soccer team in Tucson, Arizona. So far, my team has played here in Tucson, Mesa, and Phoenix. My team and I will be looking forward to soon playing in "The Mile High Classic" up in Prescott, which is our favorite tournament. I would like to thank you for giving our team the opportunity to have such a great season, and making it possible for us to attend these great tournaments. I know Steve's favorite sport is baseball, but I think he might enjoy a soccer game here and there. I can't express in words how grateful I am for your generosity, and I will always remember what you have done for my team and me. Thank you so much.
Love,
Bryson

Dear Steve's Dream,
This is Kyle and I have been playing soccer for over five years. I am almost ten years old. It made me really happy to find out that you sponsored my team. I am on the Warriors soccer All-star team. Now that you sponsored my team we can go to different cities. My team can play for a long and better season. In heaven I hope Steve watches over me. Once again thank you so much for sponsoring my team.
Sincerely,
Kyle

WOW!!! Better late than never ( sorry DSL @ home is still acting up thought I needed to get this out before the season was over).......2 words to explain our trip ........AWE SOME!!!!! I guess that's only 1 word.....AWESOME!!!
Zach & Noah, (the 2 boys) got back to the hotel to tell our wife's about the game & just kept talking & talking about the GREAT time. they explained about meeting all of you & the seats & the pictures......( Lou swearing ) ha ha
THEN we pulled up the pictures on the TV to show the wife's & the stories started all over again, we took .....188 pics ( thank God for Digital) we deleted about 1/3, Noah, the 8 yr old had the camera for a few innings....
What a fantastic service that you provide with the memory of Steve.....this is what LIFE is all about....Steve maybe gone but NEVER forgotten. Not only Steve's passion but yours for FAMILY Sports will keep this going. Baseball/Softball has always been a passion of mine...( coached 3 of my kids through years of both)
This is truly a sign of God's love for the family & keeping it together, especially in these times when we struggle to find family activities that build relationships between kids & their parents
Keep up the great work, and again I'm sorry for not getting this out sooner.
Love,
Devon, Chris, Sami, Sasha, Casey, Zach & Noah...... Dallas Center, Iowa

I just wanted to make a moment to thank you for the tickets to the Cubs game on Tuesday. My son Matthew and I had a great time. Your concept is impressive, innovative, and noble. Baseball has long been an important family pastime and there is no better bonding experience between a father and son. As you suggested, Matthew and I took the time during the game to truly appreciate the time that we had together. Life is too short and you never know which day will be the last. I strive to live by your words and make our father-son relationship as meaningful as possible each day.
As I read on your website after the game, I learned that I wasn't the only person who thought you must be selling something when we first spoke. I though for sure you wanted me to buy a cell phone plan, have my carpets cleaned, or go to a seminar on time share opportunities. Little did I know how my day (as well as my life in general) would be impacted by your story.
How can I make a donation to your worthy cause?
Not only do a feel a need to help further your efforts, I also want to do my part to share in the memory of your son.
Thanks again, Scott Silberman

Steve, THANK YOU for “choosing us”. Receiving tickets from your dad Mike on Tuesday, March 18th made a strong impact on Chris (my son aged 15) and I. Yes it was great sitting in the first row so close to 3rd base. Yes it was great being surrounded by a bunch of fanatical Cubs fans (we have limited baseball in Vancouver, BC). What was truly a blessing though was Mike’s message for Chris and I to just enjoy one another (no business; no school; no serious stuff….just enjoy each other and the game). Chris and I have told the story of Steve’s Dream often since that day. People tell me that they feel like crying when I tell them the story! Mike, Jan and Sara, thank you so much for acting on Steve’s Dream!

Dear Mike, Jan, and Sara Berry,
Thank you for generously donating to The Weekend to End Breast Cancer®. As President and CEO (Interim) of the BC Cancer Foundation and a Walker as well, I see firsthand the difference our participants and each one of their donors can make. Your gift helps bring change in Vancouver the minute it’s received.
Whether you donated in a past year or to the 2008 event, take pride in knowing that your donation specifically benefits breast cancer patients in Vancouver. Milestones like the purchase of B.C.’s first digital mammography machine, the recruitment of Dr. Sam Aparicio from Cambridge University, and the discovery of a gene that suppresses the growth of human tumors have all been funded by wonderful donors like you and the motivated Walkers and Crew Members that you support.
Sincerely,
Nick Locke

I just read your story in FOR CUBS FANS ONLY VOLUME II. It brought tears to my eyes. It was very heartfelt. I would like to donate to your cause. I have a son and I cannot even think of your loss and the pain you suffered. Please contact me. GOD BLESS YOU for love you shared with people. A man has no greater treasure than a son.

My dad and I were very honored and touched by Steve's story, and very much enjoyed the tickets. That was the closest we sat the whole week. This was our 2nd time going to Spring Training. We had been to the Grapefruit League a few years before. But we enjoyed the Cactus League much more! It was a very special and poignant week to spend too as this last year, me and my dad lost my mom to a long battle with kidney disease. Thank you again. It was a highlight of the trip that day watching the Cubs!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet Don on Friday, March 25 (he was filling in for Steve's dad). He told us the story of Steve and nearly made me cry. What a wonderful foundation that Steve's dad is building in his honor! My husband and I had an awesome day! It was my first ever spring training game and my husband hadn't been to one in 30 years. It was a beautifully sunny day and of course, the Cubs beat Seattle! Thank you for reminding us how precious life truly is!

Thanks again for the tickets and all of the Spring Training advice! My roommate and I definitely got the most out of our experience and left with some great stories! You have such a great organization and I'm spreading the word around the Midwest about Steve's Dream. Go Cubs!

On February 28, 2011 we visited Hohokom Park with another couple to watch a Spring training game for the first time. We had been in Az. to visit our son, and took a couple extra days to see a few ball games. We were speechless when approached and asked if we would like tickets from "Steve's Dream". Since each of us has a son it was especially meaningful. The day couldn't have been any better! Weather was perfect, the crowd around us was "regulars" who were entertaining in themselves and we came away with wonderful memories of our first MLB game. We felt so blessed to have had this experience. Thank you again for the memorable day.

My name is Freddie Strazzanti and I was recently blessed to be a part of “Steve’s Dream”. My son Carlo and I attended a Cubs game on March 10th and I cant express what that day has meant to the both of us. There is no doubt that memories were made that day that will last a life time. I am sure that this is the epitome of what Steve would want.. This charity has special meaning to me, as I am a single dad and know that every moment counts. Being a part of “Steve’s Dream” only reaffirms that. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you SO much for the tickets to the Cubs/Oakland game on February 27th!! My aunt and I had the best time, and that was in a large part to Steve. Steve's Dream is an amazing organization built purely out of love and it was extremely evident that day when my aunt and I received our tickets to the game. I am so glad to see how loved Steve was, and you all are doing a fantastic job at keeping his spirit alive. It sounds like Steve was an amazing young man and it would have been an honor to know him. Thank you for everything, don't ever forget the real difference you are making in the world--spreading true love and kindness.

Just wanted to say thank you for the tickets to the Cubs and Dodgers game. Had a great time with my Sister, my Cousin and her college friend. Great seats in the front row created a ton of memories. My sister got a ball tossed to her by Cubs catcher Geovany Soto and after the game my cousin and her friend got a change to meet Len Casper and Bob Brenly. All around it was a great experience at Cubs spring training that none of us will forget. Thanks again to everyone at Steve's Dream for the honor of letting us use the tickets to make a great Cubs memory.

I would just like to say a couple things.. One: You have such a great organization. It is so incredible to read the stories. I am sorry for your loss but it just shows me that although I do not know Steve, I have another "Beautiful Angel" wearing a CUBS hat looking over me! Second: Thank you for your organization and tickets to the Cubs/Oakland game on Sunday 02/27/2011. The seats were AWESOME! We had a blast!!! Right behind home plate and I know this goes without saying.. but close to the Cubs dugout. Although the CUBS did not win, they did in so many other ways! And will continue doing so with Steve looking over them! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! God Bless all of you!

My son, Jacob, and I just want to express our extreme gratitude for the tickets we were given last week. For my 9 year-old, these were the best seats from which he's ever been able to watch his heroes (the Cubbies!). I am in the process of building a new business, and funding is a little tight right now. This was such a special gift to both of us. Thank you for all that you are doing, and we look forward to a day soon when we will be able to pay it forward to others as well.

My son and I want to thank you for the wonderful tickets 5 rows behind the cubs dugout. The game was on a Monday during spring training and I was leaning toward watching the Brewers/Giants at Maryvale, but my son wanted to see Soriano and the Cubs. The day was wonderful and the words you shared made me think about the precious times I spend with my son. Thank you for reminding me not to take this time for granted. While there I had the opportunity to meet and get an autogtraph from one of my favorite players growing up, Pete LaCock.

Mike and Marilyn, My nephew and I just experienced the generosity of Steve's Dream and had a wonderful day at the ballpark. We thought of him all day and we're honored to be chosen by Mike to receive today's tickets. You have a unique way to keep Steve's memory alive. I will be contributing to your cause soon. Thank you for this thoughtful gesture. Best of luck and thanks again.

I would love to first of all thank you for the tickets that you gave my daughter and I for the preseason opener on Feb 25/09. We loved watching the game and the seats were fabulous!! I hope that my love for baseball will be passed onto my daughter from our great visit. To read about your loss and how you have turned it into something wonderful is very inspiring. You have blessed our lives. Thank you again.

Thank you for the tickets to the Cubs spring training game. My dad and I love to watch sports, but rarely get the chance to see pro teams play. We were visiting my sister's fiancé in Arizona and decided to see a game, but had no idea that someone else had already paid! The day was that much more special when my dad and I received your tickets and realized that the tickets weren't a scam, but an act of true generosity. Being in college, I don't see my dad as often as I'd like, so getting to spend a day with him was awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed the game (Cubs win! Cubs win!), each other's company, pranking each other, and even some good ol' dad advice on life after the game. Thanks for creating a lasting memory of time with my dad in memory of Steve.

Just wanted to drop a line and tell you how much we enjoyed the tickets you gave to my father which myself, my wife and my 5 year old son truly enjoyed. We sat in awe of the seats as well as the story behind these seats. it is remarkable that you do this for these games in honor of your son. Thank you thank you thank you; your story and your generosity will always be remembered in our family.

Mike, Thanks for the tickets on March 7th for me and my son. It was truly a lifetime memory that started with me meeting you outside of the stadium. The tickets were unbelievable seats and a day that I will cherish forever. I put my cell phone and my blackberry away so that I could enjoy the entire day with my son. I'm also making a $1,000.00 contribution to Steve's Dream. As promised I visited the site, enjoyed the day with my son and I want to wish you all the best in the future with Steve's Dream Inc. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

My son & I received tickets to the March 28th Cubs v. Rockies game. It was a beautiful day. Had some peanuts, a cold brew and watched my son TOTALLY enjoy his 10th b'day. To top it all off, Lovie Smith (the Bear's Coach) was right in front of us!! What a day and all because of your beautiful tribute to your son. I have to tell you the rest of my story...On New Year's Eve this year, we had just arrived in Florida for a family trip (after a 20 hr. car ride!). While unpacking, I began having pain in my chest area. Long story short is, I went to the E.R. where I was diagnosed w/ blood clots in both my lungs (the result of some long business flights & the long drive). The nurse told me I had an angel on my shoulder...the clots could've landed in my heart or brain. Our "vacation" was spent at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Fla. We had to fly our kids home. It was awful, but could have been so much worse. I am recovering (and on medicine the rest of my life) and decided for our son's b'day, to try another vacation to

My son Jack and I received tickets for the last game of the Cactus league on March 29th. At first we didn't know what to think but something told us that this was OK. After listening, we felt touched and humbled by what just happened. We had great seats and saw many people we knew from Chicago! The Cubs won 7-4 on a sunny day in Mesa. I'm sure neither of us will forget the generosity on this day. I'm a season ticket holder and plan to make sure that a Father and son go to Wrigley field for the first time every year in Steve's memory. Thank you for touching on souls at Ho Ho Kam!

Thanks for the great seats. It was another beautiful day in Arizona. We got to watch a great game as the Cubs won on a walk off home run. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy the game of baseball from the front row

Hello.
My name is Freddie Strazzanti and I was recently blessed to be a part of “Steve’s Dream”. My son Carlo and I attended a Cubs game on March 10th and I can’t express what that day has meant to the both of us. There is no doubt that memories were made that day that will last a life time. Being a part of “Steve’s Dream” only reaffirms that. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Anyone involved with this charity are themselves blessed, as it makes me want to give back in some manner. No doubt I could donate, but that seems to be the easy way to do it. What I would like to do is offer up my services. I run a small event company and put on everything from private to large corporate events, including charity events. I am willing to donate all of my time, expertise and equipment to possibly assist you in putting on a charity event with proceeds going to “Steve’s Dream”. I have I have helped to raise $1000-1500 for a one day/night casino type events. But please understand that this does not have to be a onetime event, based on demand it can be done as often as you like. I would be happy to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me.
Again, thank you, my son and I will treasure the day forever.
Best Wishes.
